If you press pass that pressure switch, you unlock the last and actual power of the car. You can feel it with tactile feed back on your feet. Something women are incapable of feeling.

  • Doug mocks the off road mode button saying this car has "like 5 inches of ground clearance." Actually it has 8 inches of clearance which is significantly more. Can't believe someone would post a review of a crossover/lifted hatch and not know this. Sorry Doug, you kind of lost me there.

  • I still watch most of Doug’s reviews with fun... But I decided a while ago that I will not proceed to watch Doug’s score segments anymore. It’s a matter of brain balance. Trying to guess what score a reviewer is about to give (on just about anything, really), and- in all fairness - getting good at it is the very essence of the fun I will get when watching YT reviews. The discrepancy between the tone he uses to describe features right up until the score moment and the actual scores he awards just kills me. I keep my fun only if I don’t get to think (or see) that Doug soaks his toes in the spectrum. I got to keep on liking my Doug, after all...

  • Shabby prep for a car review when he makes fun of the "like 5 inches of ground clearance" (in the context of the off-road setting feature) without knowing it's 6.9 inches. Admittedly it's not an off-roader but it's an essential spec that should be known to a "reviewer."

  • No visibility, Turbo engine that will have issues past 5 year mark, cannot rest elbows on long drives (while keeping both hands on steering wheel). Power? Drive a 2010-2012 RAV4 V6 and you have power without the Turbo complications. Also, what's up with the front hood overhang? That's ridiculous looking. As for the name... CX3.0, CX3.1...

  • Appreciate the thoughtful design features and minimalist design. As for the infotainment system, I'd have to try it of course, but I can't stand the touch screens so common today, and for the reasons Mazda explained. And more. All touch screens require that you look at them to press a button. Nothing is by feel. And that is bad while you're driving. I want to be able to control things by touch, without looking at them, or at most a quick glance. As for selecting the destination, yes, scrolling through letters might (might) be tedious, but you shouldn't be setting the destination while you're driving, Dave, so it's not a safety issue. The sub-adult sized back seat could be a fatal flaw for me. While I rarely would need to transport an adult back there, I would want the option to do so, without making that person miserable. I have read elsewhere that the visibility is bad. Dave didn't mention it, but from the video it does look limited. Which is a problem -- visibility is high priority to me. So what does the offroad mode do? As for the plastic wheel arches, two questions: 1. What might they look like in ten years? I would worry they wouldn't age well, if the intent is to keep the car a long time. 2. Might they help a car last longer in snow and ice country? I.e., protecting against rusted out fenders?

    DonTrumanDonTrumanPřed 2 měsíci
    • I had 9.5 years old subcompact crossover, and the wheel arches are still in good condition. Just clean it regularly and it will last longer. I live in equator area so don't know about in snow.

  • Looked around for two years while my 2000 honda civic hatch manual finally kicked the bucket. Picked up a CX 30 after looking at all sorts of competitors. Wish it had a manual transmission and there is too much tech for me, but that comes with the territory now. Reasons for getting: Solid feeling, reliable (we shall see), fast (enough), decent ground clearance for CDN winters, AWD, looks good imo. Cons: Would prefer a 'made in Japan' car, an extra inch of ground clearance, the key fob is "too beaucoup" ! Rock n Roll !

  • Three weeks after my purchase, I got to say: Mazda was right. The media console is safer, you actually take your eyes off the road way less and you get used to it very quickly. A bit difficult at the beginning, that's for sure. But i'd trade it for nothing now that i'm used to it. I never enter a destination on the console anyway. I just use Carplay and it's working like a charm.

I suppose you can get used to parking anything, but I live in a really congested area where many parking lots are small, the spaces are tight, and the parking area is just a few feet from a busy road. So I appreciate a small vehicle with good packaging and features.

  • I think you're wrong about touch screens. Putting an infotainment system that you don't have to touch is a good idea, because of fingerprints. As a Mazda owner, the entire infotainment system isn't practical to use unless you are an apple car play user. As an android user, I basically have to use Waze over Bluetooth even though I have the Nav system with hd radio traffic ($500 option). The problem with the Mazda Infotainment system is how badly it's programmed and compares against a smartphone. The nav with traffic still sends you the longest route, despite telling you how much traffic there is. It only really integrates with iPhones.

    Randy ChavezRandy ChavezPřed 4 měsíci
    • The Acceleration score comes from an objective scale based on 0-60 time, and anything that takes longer than 7 seconds gets a "1". Also, "most powerful in the segment" isn't the same as being as powerful as exotic high-performance sports cars, as the DougScore compares every car to every other car.

  • It makes perfect sense to make the turn-signal volume configurable, at least to people considerably older than Doug. When I was young, it was a joke that old people would drive down the road in their land-yacht Cadillacs and Lincolns with the turn signal happily flashing away. It was because the luxo-barges were trying to be quiet and hushed inside, and the clicking of the turn signal was too soft for many old people to hear. Of course, nowadays hearing aids are better and turn signals turn themselves off, so you don't see that old problem as much. But Mazda's way, if you're older and a little hard of hearing, you can make the turn signal louder so you're more comfortable with it. Makes sense to me.

  • All mazdas look the same. they think they're the luxury brand, but their profit dropped by 80% in 2019. They are trying to act like Merc and BMW, but in order to beat the heritage you need to bring something extra ordinary to the table. Mazda's quality is extraordinary in its class, but its price is also not normal for its class. And did they bring something special to luxury segments? Nope. They are not special at all when compared in luxury segments. Although I admit that they are better than the Volvos, which look exactly the same inside out across all line-ups and putting on luxury price tags when they don't even have rear wheel based platform.
